Biography
Dr Michael David Winther is Senior Director for Target Discovery at Engine Biosciences (Singapore) and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Lee Kong Chan School of Medicine. He has extensive experience in industry and academic research in the UK and Canada prior to moving to Singapore in 2014 to take on the challenge of managing the National Pharmacogenomics Programme, SAPhIRE. He also held the position of Associate Director at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where he was responsible for business development and management of intellectual property. Prior positions in life sciences industries include: Senior Director of Drug Discovery at Xenon Pharmaceuticals in Vancouver, President of QuantaNova Canada in Nova Scotia and Department Head at Welcome Research Laboratories in the UK. Dr Winther obtained a PhD from the University of Stirling, Scotland and postdoctoral training at the University of Essex. His work has spanned diverse areas of research and clinical investigation in vaccines, biological products, lipids, and drug discovery.
